- From Maastricht/Heerlen or Cologne via A4: Exit Aachen-Laurensberg
- Turn right (Kohlscheider Straße), towards Aachen-Zentrum
- At the second exit (after about 1.5 km) turn right, towards Aachen-Laurensberg
- At the second traffic light, turn left into Kackertstraße
- After 500 m, our office locations are located on the left hand side
- Note that you need an RWTH Aachen University parking card or a visitor permit (available in our office)
The closest airport is Maastricht Aachen (MAA) in the Netherlands, which is a small airport with only few incoming flights. From this airport, you may take a taxi.
The closest airports in Germany are Cologne-Bonn (CGN) and Düsseldorf (DUS). For the journey from both airports to our office, we would recommend you to take a rental car. The trip will take about 45-60 minutes. However, you may also go by train. From Cologne-Bonn Airport, take the "S-Bahn" to Cologne Central Station. From there, see below. From Düsseldorf Airport, use the "Skytrain" to get to the train station of the airport. From there, take a direct local train (RE) towards Aachen Central Station and disembark at station "Aachen West" (trip will take about 90 minutes), or any train to Cologne Central Stration. From there, see below.
Another option is to fly to Frankfurt (FRA). From there, you can take a high speed train that brings you in 90 mins directly from FRA to Aachen (ICE Frankfurt – Brussels). With changing trains in Cologne Central Station, you have an option every 20 mins from FRA, but the entire trip may take 2-3 hours.
A final option is to fly to Brussels (BRU). From there, Aachen is about 60 mins by rental car, or about 90 mins by train (change into Thalys or ICE train in Brussels Midi).
Aachen is on the direct high speed line Cologne – Brussels – Paris, with good connections also from London via Brussels. In each direction, there is about one high-speed train per hour (either THALYS or ICE trains). The trip from Cologne to Aachen takes 35 mins, from Brussels about 1 hour.
There also are two local trains (RE) per hour from Cologne to Aachen (taking about 50-55 mins.). If you come from the Nord-West, you also may go via Düsseldorf Main Station. The local train from there to Aachen also stops in "Aachen West", which is closer to our offices.
From Aachen Central Station or Aachen West, you can take a bus (a described below). A taxi will take about 10 mins and will cost 11-13 Euros.
From Ponttor - RWTH Main Building (SuperC, Audimax etc.)
Walk to bus stop "Ponttor" (note: as there are bus stops called "Ponttor" in several different spots, make sure you find the one in Pontstraße; map) Get on either one of the following bus lines - 27 (towards "Kohlscheid Bank" or "Richterich Roder Weg"), 37 (towards "Orsbach Lemiers"), 47 (towards "Merkstein"), 77 (towards "Richterich Schönau") - and get off it (5 min) at bus stop "Wildbach"
From there, it is 5 minute walk: follow Roermonderstraße (southbound), then turn right into Kackertstraße. Find us on the left hand side after about 200 m.
From Aachen Central Station:
Head to bus stop H.2 and get on bus 13B towards Pontor. At Ponttor, change into a bus as described above.
From Aachen West ("Westbahnhof"):
Walk across the Republikplatz to Bus Stop "Westbahnhof" and get on bus 7, 24, 30, or 137 towards Süsterau, Laurensberg-Rahe, Richterich or Uniklinik. (Note: Make sure you find the right bus stop at Aachen West one in Süsterfeldstraße; map) Get off the bus (3 min) at bus stop "Süsterau". From there, it is a walk of 5 to 7 minutes: follow Süsterfeldstraße (northbound), then turn right into Kackertstraße. Find us on the right hand side after about 100 m.
