On June 6th the chair for Service and Technology Marketing (STM) had the pleasure to visit the Eurowings headquarter in Cologne. For the final event in the “Service Simulation Game” course, students of RWTH Aachen (Prof. Dr. Stefanie Paluch) and the University of Paderborn (Prof. Dr. Nancy Wünderlich) got together. In the inter-university challenge, students acted as managers for an airline in a simulation software. In exciting poster presentations, students from both universities reflected on their chosen strategy, as well as successes and failures during the simulation.

The winning teams of the simulation were GoldenWings (RWTH), Phoenix Airlines (Universität Paderborn), InterAir (RWTH) und CAIR (Universität Paderborn) and were awarded with a trophy and certificates for their great performance in the game.

Following the poster presentation was a guest lecture by the COO of Eurowings, Michael Knitter. Throughout his presentation he gave the audience interesting insights into the workings of a “real” airline in the highly competitive budget market. Furthermore, students could socialize with representatives of Eurowings from various business units to talk about daily business or career opportunities in a get-together.

We would like to thank Eurowings for the top-class guests and the great organization of the event!
