Through the classical social sciences of sociology and economics, I learned broad theoretical and methodological foundations for the study of social phenomena. But already during my bachelor's degree, I expanded these competencies via additional courses from the field of computer science. The Internet and the algorithmic systems based on it, which influence a significant part of our reality, offer a data basis on which completely new insights within the social science can be achieved. In the master's program at the RWTH, I am learning at the intersection between data science and social sciences how to conduct studies based on such data to generate new kind of knowledge, and at TIM I am putting that into practice.
