Identification and analysis of successful business models in the German magazine market
The failure of the Financial Times Germany, as an example of the print media industry, shows that companies - despite great financial resources – are not able to sustain their advantage if the foundation which is represented by the business model is no longer given. Special conditions (eg. regulatory provisions) as well as the penetration of digital technologies (eg. media recepti- on on mobile devices) leads to competitive pressure in the print media industry, which often results in the crackdown of magazines and even publishers. First ideas on how to analyze the German magazine market and its underlying busi- ness models are presented and the database to survey the research questions will be presented and discussed.
