The “Zukunftscluster Wasserstoff“ (future cluster hydrogen) pursues the goal of improving hydrogen technologies in the areas of production, storage, distribution and utilization and bringing them to market maturity. In addition to the targeted development of the technology, technological change always requires parallel activities in the areas of economy, society and (economic) institutions, which represent the framework conditions for the change and have a market-preparing effect. Within the framework of the future cluster hydrogen, the team of the Sustainable Innovation Lab develops innovation accompanying measures for the full development of hydrogen technologies.
Among other things, the objective is to:
- Identify and specify value creation potentials
- Explore factors and conditions for the regional development of innovation ecosystems
- Synthesize results from a technical perspective at the level of an integrated hydrogen economy
- Develop business models and markets for hydrogen applications
- Identify growth fields for the German economy to develop economic forecasts as well as visions for the future
The innovation supporting measures are intended to pursue the overarching goal of systematizing findings and experience in the fields of hydrogen technologies and making them usable to gain a better understanding of the hydrogen innovation ecosystem with its specific challenges and success factors. Since the Future Cluster is designed to link different value-added stages of a hydrogen economy (production, storage, distribution, utilization) as well as overarching business, science and society, an interdisciplinary approach is required for their research to understand them in all necessary dimensions. For the implementation we offer a broad spectrum of expertise and methodological competence from engineering, social and economic innovation research. Through regular workshops, conferences, and congresses we offer our project partners the opportunity to identify their own innovation potentials as well as to recognize and benefit from regional ecosystems.
