In the context of open innovation companies restructure innovation processes to benefit from external knowledge and collaborative networks. One prominent barrier to open, collaborative innovation is the Not-Invented-Here syndrome (NIH). NIH is the “irrational” tendency to devaluate externally generated knowledge that leads institutions to reject external innovations and prefer internal innovations instead. This thesis should examine strategies to overcome NIH, utilizing conceptual, experimental or qualitative-empirical research methods.
