Text Mining as a way towards knowledge exploration - Opportunities and Limitations within the discipline of economics

Text mining refers to the process of deriving new insights from text. It usually involves the process of structuring the input text, deriving patterns within the structured data and evaluation and interpretation of the output. It aims at finding patterns with relevance, novelty and interestingness. The focus of this study is exploring opportunities and limitations of this method for knowledge exploration in economics by reviewing economic literature. Interested students should have sound knowledge of mathematics and statistics and the willingness to work one's way into those techniques.
