The WIN chair has established a new research group that explores a new phenomenon in entrepreneurship: seed accelerators (e.g. Y Combinator, Techstars). The objective of this research group is to explore this phenomenon from multiple perspectives, leading to a number of potential research questions: What is the impact of accelerator participation on individual start-up performance? Which program design criteria influence growth potential of start-ups? Which investor types are particularly attracted by start-ups that participated in a seed accelerator program? These (and more) questions lead to a number of potential master theses, that can be discussed in a brief meeting (actual ideas are already available). The theses can be based on an existing dataset (crunchbase) that needs to be slightly extended in some cases (e.g. CEO background data). Experience in Python & STATA helpful, but not required.
