Exploring real-time micro-regional labour market changes using data mining
- Lehrstuhl für Innovation, Strategie und Organisation
Labour market research deals with the study of the labour market, occupational group and industry development etc. in economic and social contexts. It is an interdisciplinary area in the midst of sociology, economics and econometrics. Forecasting/nowcasting methods from the field of statistics/informatics, which attempt to forecast the future labour market, are becoming increasingly important. The thesis should show whether and how job postings (texts & metadata) can be used to investigate microregional labour market changes and their causes/effects, as well as to predict their future development. The methodological focus should be on text mining techniques.
Interested students should have a sound knowledge of statistics and advanced knowledge of at least one suitable programming language such as R or Python. Knowledge and experience in text mining and/or spatial statistics are of advantage.
