The figurehead of the Palestinian underground scene. She is one of the first female DJs and producers of electronic music from the Middle East. Her sound, an original kind of techno that is both highly powerful and melodic at the same time, quickly established itself throughout Europe and beyond.

SAMA', which means "sky" in Arabic, started in 2006 with parties in Ramallah, State of Palestine. A few years later, she began producing her own music. The artist completed a Bachelor of Science degree in sound engineering and music production in the UK. She then moved to Cairo, where she worked as a sound designer for films, became a music producer, and then a lecturer. SAMA' now runs her own audio engineering and sound design company.

In 2017 she took up a residence in Paris after being selected by the Institut Francais. SAMA' also runs a publishing house called Awyav, which represents independent artists from the Arab world.

At the end of 2018, SAMA´s Boiler Room performance and accompanying documentary about the scene in Palestine went viral. Her increasing number of fans prove that music really knows no boundaries. SAMA' was recently added to SheSaid's Alternative Power100 Music List – a ranking that aims to challenge conventional music industry standards, which are epitomized by Billboard’s Power 100 List.

Burnside Yard

It is hard to guess this Aachen band’s musical style on the basis of their enigmatic name alone. And that is precisely the idea. Founded in 2013, the band now consists of five experienced young musicians who let their creativity roam free and fuse many different   music styles in their songs. Emotional ballads suddenly alternate with funk rock, then again with groove-filled rock songs full of brute guitar riffs; each set is a roller coaster ride through all kinds of genres, in keeping with the motto: anything goes. After a series of recent concerts, the band is once again coming up for fresh air – at this year's Aachen September Special.

Onk Lou

The talented musician from a small town in Lower Austria has been busking all over Europe in the last few years. He has played at songwriting festivals in Denmark, Russian discos in Moscow, apartment parties in Berlin, and on the streets of Italy. With his debut album "Bogus" he won over his home country in a flash – besides several TV shows, the rather striking bearded fellow quickly rose to play on big stages and festivals here. Last year he was nominated for the Alternative category for the 2018 Amadeus Austrian Music Award, where he also performed with Sam Louis.

Isolation Berlin

The indie rock band Isolation Berlin is one of the most exciting of its kind in Germany. The Berlin band is formed of singer and guitarist Tobi Bamborschke, Max Bauer on guitar and organ, David Specht on bass, and Simeon Cöster on drums. They win over fans and even critics with songs like "Annabelle" or "Aquarium." While the musicians are only in their mid-20s, they managed to become the darlings of the indie scene in just a matter of weeks. Their debut "Und aus den Wolken tropft die Zeit" and subsequent album "Berliner Schule/Protopop" alternate from good mood beats and self-indulgent staginess to lyrics that are authentic and in keeping with the spirit of our time. A-Wa ("Ay-wa") are the world pop sensation from the Israeli Negev Desert. The music by the three sisters Fair, Liron, and Tegel Haim is a mixture of traditional Yemeni melodies and modern hip-hop beats, complemented by electronic sounds. Their confident performance represents a strong and modern image of women in the otherwise rather conservative Middle East and continues to win fans the world over.

Following the overwhelming success of their single "Habibi Galbi", which has by now already had over ten million views, their debut album of the same name, produced by Tomer Yousef of Balkan Beat Box, was released in 2016. Their latest album was released in spring 2019.
